Though tomatoes are most commonly consumed kind of vegetables,
there are some specific types of alergic reactions reported against
consumption of tomatoes. The allergic symptoms of tomatoes include:
urticaria / angioedema, dermatitis, oral alergy syndromes, rhinitis,
rashes, itching in eczematous patients as well as abdominal pains.
It is advisable to seriously identify the typical component of
the tomatoes to which you are allergic to and exclude the cross
reactions with the other alergies that you may already have.
Adverse reactions after eating the fresh tomatoes are commonly
reported. The tyramine serotonin and tryptamine present in the
tomatoes could trigger the symptoms that are almost similar to that
of food allergic reactions. The skin testing to tomatoes, if found
negative directs that you are not allergic to tomatoes.
