Sulfur is like the iodine which is the usual part of each of the
cell which is found in the blood of each person. Hence the pure
iodine or sulfur alergy is just not possible. Nowadays, there are
numerous drugs such as: various antibiotics, anti-inflammatory
agents, oral anti-diabetic agents as well as several diuretics which
are regularly used having sulfur combination. However, there is much
confusion about what comprises the sulfur allergy and its clinical
consequences. One question is frequently rose which says whether the
patient having sulfur allergy should be administered the medication
containing the sulfur and then what other drugs would the patient be
alergic to.
Some of the immunological reactions to sulfonamides or sulfur
include angioedema, hypotension, immune thrombocytopenia, vasculitis
and fixed drug eruptions.
