Like all other metal allergic reactions, nickel alergy is also
one of the most common types of allergic contact dermatitis. Nickel
allergy generally activates when the skin comes in direct contact
with nickel, for instance while using coins or various jewelleries.
It is found that most people exhibit nickel allergic reactions
after extended contact with the metal. Body piercing is typically
considered as the most sensitized act of aggravating the nickel
allergic reactions.
This is because the nickel seeps into the blood streams and start
reacting. Once the allergic reaction to nickel is developed, it is
quite troublesome to prevent the symptoms as techniques like
desensitization of alergy shots are least effective. Thus averting
nickel contact is advisable. The other way out is buying the kits
that tests products for nickel content before using the metal
elements.
