The iodine alergy would be the spontaneous reaction to iodine on
the skin or iodine injected in the contrast dye for taking better
X-rays. Such exposure may cause spontaneous anaphylactic shock in
the persons who are alergic in general.
The patient or the sufferer may exhibit highly troublesome
breathing besides his tongue or throat swollen. However, for
averting such histamine reactions, the treatment with the
epinephrine injection is usually done.
The genuine iodine allergy is anyway the most exclusive and
seldom noticed reactions. The persons have been reported exhibiting
nausea, flushing, fever, or some serious breathing problems because
of the iodine sensitivity. If anybody is allergic to shellfish or
fish, he may feel that he may have the iodine allergy, which is
incorrect, as both these fishes are rich source of iodine but
sometimes those allergic are not responding to the iodine in the
fish.
